now, we'll go all the way to the east of this great country. to the state of yucatan. this peninsular like state lies between the caribean sea and the gulf of mexico. famous for it's white beaches on the caribean side and for it's numerous witnesses of mayan culture throughout the innerland, it's well worthwhile a visit.
the mayan ruins of uxmal already show the late influences of the aztec power, which expandet as far as yucatan in its glorious time. the buildings itself thought are all from the genius mayan architects.

the building date from a period between 600 and 900 a.d. . uxmal is one of the best preserved mayan sites. many buildings show in their decoration the mayan god of rain, chac (pronounced as 'tshaak'), with its characteristic nose (looks like a hook)
